Johnson County Government employees support ArtsKC as one of three sanctioned annual fundraising campaigns. The 2017 campaign raised a total of $20,704.98, exceeding the goal of $20,017.
Tim DeWeese, director of Mental Health and ArtsKC campaign chairman, presented results for the 2017 campaign to the Board of County Commissioners during their regular meeting on March 23.
The main event is an employee art showcase in February with a People's Choice Award given for the top three entries:
These photos will be included in the county's 2018 ArtsKC calendar with the first place photo on the cover. This year, employees submitted 88 works of art for the show.

The County Manager's Office once again won the traveling trophy for first place in staff donations.
"This campaign is just one example of our county employees participating in and supporting a community activity," said Ed Eilert, chairman of the Board of County Commissioners. "It certainly demonstrates their above-and-beyond commitment to our community. I am also always amazed at the talent this annual arts showcase highlights."
Johnson County employees also participate in the United Way and Feed the Need, a regional effort coordinated by the Mid-America Regional Council, the Mid-America Assistance Coalition and Harvesters International.
