The best way to protect yourself and your family from getting influenza is to receive a flu shot. Johnson County Department of Health and Environment (JCDHE) encourages all residents over the age of 6 months to get a flu shot.
Although the Center for Disease Control recommends getting your flu shot before the end of October, there are still benefits to receiving the shot after that time. It takes about two weeks after vaccination for antibodies to develop in the body to protect against the flu. It’s best to receive your flu shot before the flu starts spreading in the community.
JCDHE offers seasonal flu shots for children and adults at its walk-in clinics located in Mission and Olathe. Clinic hours are available online. You can complete the information form prior to arriving at the clinic, print it and bring it with you. You can also check-in online using the QLess mobile app or click on the "Get in Line Now" button on our website.
