TIPS

Johnson County Mental Health Center is recognized by the Department of Revenue Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control as a certified Kansas Seller/Server Training Program using the TIPS curriculum.

The Training For Intervention ProcedureS (TIPS) is an alcohol intervention program that trains individuals to serve and/or sell alcohol responsibly in any setting. The purpose of TIPS is to help people create the kind of environment that promotes safety and responsibility wherever alcohol is sold. Included in this training is a review of proper procedure to use to determine age and valid forms of identification.

There are two trainings available for alcohol:

  • Training for On Premise establishments, such as restaurants, bars, hotels and nightclubs
  • Training for Off Premise establishments, such as grocery stores, convenience stores and liquor stores

eTIPS

Training conducted through eTIPS is delivered through a computer and served over the web. eTIPS Training is self-paced and can be accessed at any time. eTIPS training takes 1.5-3 hours to complete.
