Here are some highlights of the Board of County Commissioners’ actions and activities in September 2019. More information including official minutes, votes and videos on all items is available at boccmeetings.jocogov.org.
The BOCC voted to authorize the following items:
- Adopted a revised solid waste management plan, to be known as the Johnson County Solid Waste Management Plan, 2019 Edition. The Board of County Commissioners formally adopts the SWMP after a required public hearing, and it is ultimately approved by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment to become official. As required by Kansas law, the plan is reviewed annually to track the completion of and progress towards short- and long-term goals that are called out in the SWMP. - Approved a subsidized dust control pilot program for the unincorporated area of Johnson County for year 2020. Learn more about this program in this brochure.
- Adopted Human Resource Policies 501 through 510 pertaining to employee benefits and authorized the adoption of related Human Resources Procedures effective January 1, 2020, and replacing current Johnson County Human Resources Policies and Procedure pertaining to employee benefits.
- Approved a FY 2019 start date for the FY 2020 approved personnel requests of 6.0 FTE Sheriff Jail Deputies, 1.0 FTE Medicolegal Death Investigator for Medical Examiner, and 1.0 FTE Energy Manager for Facilities Department; and the reallocation and expenditure of fund balances (reserves) for FY 2019 General Fund in the amount of $100,000 for Sheriff Deputies and $25,000 Public Health Fund reserve for Medicolegal Death Investigator.
