Here are some highlights of the Board of County Commissioners’ actions and activities in November 2019. More information including official minutes, votes and videos on all items is available at boccmeetings.jocogov.org.
The board took the following action in November:
- Approved the issuance of $22,165,000 in General Obligation bonds: $20,531,727 for wastewater improvements and $2,994,600 for the Johnson County radio replacement project. The wastewater bonds will be financed over 20 years while the radio replacement bonds involved a 10-year issuance. J.P. Morgan Securities LLC purchased the bonds at an interest rate of 2.34%.
- Authorized $1,390,000 in lease purchase revenue bonds for the renovation, construction, equipping and furnishing of improvements to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Operations Building and the Adult Detention Center along with improvements to the Corrections Department’s Adult Residential Center 3. The board, in its role as the Public Building Commission, approved the issuance and sale of the lease purchase revenue bonds, sold to Robert W. Baird & Co. at an interest rate of 2.55%.
- Authorized the Mental Health Director to sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Mental Health Department and the Sheriff's Office for the provision of behavioral health services at the Johnson County Adult Detention Center and authorize the Mental Health Department to add 12.5 FTEs.
- Authorized Charter Resolution No. 044-19 to allow the Board of County Commissioners to establish procedures and schedules, including holiday schedules for official meeting dates, and set an official meeting calendar for the Board of County Commissioners for 2020.
