Johnson County Government celebrated 470 employees who’d reached milestones ranging from five to 40 years of service at a reception on Tuesday in Overland Park.
We also said a fond farewell and thank you to 77 employees who’d recently retired, three of whom left us with 40 years of service, and one with 41 years of service.
Assistant County Manager Joe Waters emceed the reception. County Commission Chairman Ed Eilert addressed attendees. County Manager Penny Postoak Ferguson recognized the employees.
For a second year in a row, we recognized our Leadership in Action award winners. These are employees who performed above and beyond for the good of the organization or the community.
The award recognizes and rewards outstanding contributions. Thirty-one employees received a nomination, and county leadership, including the managers and department and agency directors, selected 21.
These employees innovated to substantially save taxpayer dollars, found ways to serve our residents more efficiently, took on extra work, demonstrated leadership and more work that made them stand out among their peers.
