Highlight of an experience or memory from WWII: Flying my “Last Mission No. 45”  on Aug. 6, 1945. After 45 missions, you can rotate back to the U.S. 

While returning to Tinian Island when news came over the radio that “A Big War Ending Bomb” had been unleashed. Landed next to the Enola Gay at Tinian that day.

Remained friends with Paul Tibbetts (pilot of the Enola Gay) way after the war until the general's passing.
