New check-in procedure for health clinics starts October 21

Starting on Monday, Oct. 21, clients who come to the Olathe or Mission health clinics for walk-in services will check-in electronically using the iPads stationed in the lobby or with a staff member at the customer service window. This new procedure allows us to better estimate wait times for walk-in services. Remote check-ins will no longer be available via the QLess smartphone app or our website.   

Tuberculosis skin tests resume at health clinics

Tuberculosis (TB) skin testing has resumed at JCDHE’s Olathe and Mission health clinics on a walk-in basis. The nationwide shortage of tuberculin skin testing supplies is over. Our clinics also offer TB blood tests (IGRA). More information about TB testing is located here

Child care providers can pick up background check packets

Child Care Licensing staff will distribute background check packets to licensed child care providers who are eligible for license renewal at the Child Care Licensing office located in the Sunset Drive Office Building (11811 S. Sunset Drive, Suite 2700, Olathe) during regular business hours (Monday-Friday, 8-11:30 a.m. and 12:30-5 p.m.) or by calling 913-477-8339 to schedule a pick-up on weekdays before 8 a.m. Packets are also available 30 minutes prior to the start of all evening child care licensing classes.

Recycle Your Paint and Other Household Chemicals

Have you ever wondered what to do with old paint, household cleaners, or weed killer? For Johnson County residents there are two options for getting rid of these items, and many more. Both Johnson County government and the City of Olathe operate household hazardous waste (HHW) collection facilities that collect and safely dispose of a wide range of household chemicals, and is free for Johnson County residents to use. Accepted items include paint, stain, weed killer, cleaners, used oil, aerosols, and much more. 

Olathe walk-in clinic closing at 4 p.m. on July 3, 2019

The Johnson County Department of Health and Environment's Olathe walk-in clinic (11875 S. Sunset Drive) will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 3, 2019. Late clinic hours will resume on July 10, 2019. The Mission clinic (6000 Lamar Ave.) is closed on Wednesdays.

Walk-in clinics temporarily experience longer than normal wait times

Pardon our progress! As we transition over to a new electronic medical records system, clients may experience longer than normal wait times at our walk-in clinics or may need to be seen another day.

If you are coming to the clinic for immunizations, please bring your immunization records with you. This information will help us provide you the vaccines you need.

Fingerprint Services Closed Friday May 31st

Due to unavoidable circumstances, the sheriff's office will not be able to provide fingerprinting services on Friday May 31st.

Walk-In clinics temporarily closed for staff training

The Mission Walk-in Clinic (6000 Lamar Ave.) will be closed May 27-June 24, 2019 for staff training on a new electronic medical records system.

Walk-in services (immunizations, STD testing/treatment, TB testing, pregnancy testing, physicals) will be available at the Olathe clinic (11875 S. Sunset Drive) during this time except for June 3-6, 2019 when this clinic is closed for training. Immunizations will be given on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 from 12-6:30 p.m. only in Olathe. 

Community Meeting: Waste and Recycling in Johnson County

Johnson County invites you to join us for a community discussion about waste and recycling. We are updating our Solid Waste Management Plan and public involvement is necessary for this project’s success. The purpose of the Plan is to establish a clear vision for the waste diversion goals, recycling strategies, infrastructure needs, and priorities for the County over the next 25 years. Please join us to share your input as we look forward to hearing from you!

New Health Clinic hours in Olathe start Oct. 1, 2018

Starting Oct. 1 the Johnson County Department of Health and Environment added additional service hours at its Olathe health clinic located at 11875 S. Sunset Drive.

The Olathe clinic is open EVERY Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. giving clients additional time for walk-in services and appointments. The Mission clinic is closed on Fridays. Both clinics are open late on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
