Enrollment climbs in JCERT programs at the KU Edwards Campus

A 15 percent increase in JCERT-support degree and certificate programs at KUEC reflects the area’s rising need for education and advanced knowledge in these fields.
The latest enrollment news from the KU Edwards Campus (KUEC) reveals a 15 percent year-over-year increase in its degree and certificate programs supported by the Johnson County Education Research Triangle (JCERT).
Degrees and their corresponding enrollment growth from fall 2018 to fall 2019 include:
- Master’s in project management: 48.9 percent
- Master’s in civil engineering: 28.6 percent
- Master’s in applied statistics and analytics: 14.3 percent
- Bachelor’s in information technology: 38.2 percent
- Bachelor’s in biotechnology: 12.6 percent
The growth reflects the area’s rising need for education and advanced knowledge in these fields. Area companies report a heightened need to recruit top talent, and KUEC is uniquely positioned to help organizations find qualified workers locally.
KUEC serves nearly 2,000 nontraditional students with flexible, career-focused education. Three-quarters of KUEC students have jobs and almost 50 percent work full time; 80 percent are 25 or older; 27 percent are parents of children under 18; and approximately 23 percent are first-generation college students.
“This continued enrollment increase demonstrates the importance of JCERT funding for relevant educational offerings and underscores our strong collaboration with the greater Kansas City business community,” said David Cook, vice chancellor of the KU Edwards Campus. “We are deliberate in the programs we offer, the quality of education we deliver and the services we provide to our unique student body of nontraditional, adult learners.”
