Warrant Unit

The Sheriff’s Office Warrant Unit is primarily charged with locating and apprehending persons wanted by written order of the Johnson County District Court. These orders include Felony, Misdemeanor and Civil arrest warrants. The Warrant Unit is also tasked with attempting arrest warrants within Johnson County from other agencies nationwide as well as coordinating the extradition efforts of fugitives wanted by the Johnson County District Court who have been located outside the State of Kansas. 

The Warrant Unit receives on average between 7,000 and 8,000 arrest warrants from the courts annually, with approximately 5,800 warrants returned per year to the issuing courts due to apprehension of the wanted person or for other reasons ordered by the court.
