Consumer Protection

The Johnson County District Attorney’s Office has developed the Consumer Protection Unit to educate consumers and to address complaints by consumers against area merchants. Through strong, yet fair, enforcement of the Kansas Consumer Protections Act, this unit investigates, identifies, and aggressively prosecutes deceptive and unconscionable acts committed by area merchants against consumers.

Consumers who believe they may have been the victim of a deceptive or unconscionable act in connection with a consumer transaction should use the following helpful hints in determining whether to file a complaint with the Consumer Fraud Unit:

These businesses and individuals are restricted from operating as a result of civil cases brought by the District Attorney’s Office under the authority of the Kansas Consumer Protection Act, K.S.A. 50-623 et seq.
