The 2024 Johnson County Old Settlers celebration is almost upon us. The festivities will take place in the Johnson County Square in downtown Olathe, beginning Thursday, Sept. 5, and ending Saturday, Sept. 7.

Please stop by the Johnson County Government booth, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on all three days. You can pick up information about county government, departments and services. Test your JoCo trivia with our Spin-to-Win wheel for candy or prizes.

Our booth will be located just to the north of the Johnson County Administration Building (111 S. Cherry St., Olathe). Other county entities at Old Settlers include the Sheriff’s Office and Emergency Services.

Additionally, a special event will take place on Thursday, Sept. 5 at 11:30 a.m. at the Johnson County Square fountain to dedicate a time capsule that celebrates and commemorates Johnson County Government.

The time capsule will reflect the years 2021-2024, which included the completion of a new courthouse, demolition of an old courthouse and redevelopment of the Johnson County Square.

The time capsule will be enclosed in its vault at the History Plaza following the Old Settlers celebration.
