BOCC Action for June 8, 2023

Adoption of revised bylaws for Commission on Aging

Adopted the revised bylaws for the Johnson County Commission on Aging. Vote: Passed 7-0.

Funding and contract for Wastewater JoCo Inflow Program

After a public hearing, approved Resolution No. WD 23-012 to authorize $1,791,000 for the Johnson County Wastewater JoCo Inflow Program, increasing the total authorization to $2,541,000, and approved a contract with multiple plumbing contractors for the Private I/I Plumber Selection in an amount not to exceed $1,750,000 for a one-year term with the option to renew for up to four additional one-year terms per Request for Proposal 2022-062. Vote: Passed 7-0.

Allocation of funds for Olathe Pathway Project

Authorized the allocation of Coronavirus SLFRF received from the United States Department of the Treasury in the amount of $950,000 for the purpose of funding a community investment of infrastructure costs for Habitat for Humanity’s Olathe Pathway Project. Vote: Passed 7-0.

Allocation of funds for Landlord Incentive Pilot Program

Authorized the allocation of Coronavirus SLFRF received from the United States Department of the Treasury in the amount of $200,000 for the purpose of funding a community investment towards a Landlord Incentive Pilot Program. Vote: Passed 6-1.

Medical Examiner’s Office  attains national accreditation

The Johnson County Medical Examiner’s Office has attained full accreditation by the National Association of Medical Examiners. NAME accredited offices represent the highest quality of death investigation system. The accreditation process consists of a rigorous inspection of the physical facility and a review of the office practices, including the implementation of policies and procedures. The overall objective of the accreditation is to ensure that the application of the standards set forth by NAME will aid in developing and maintaining a highcaliber medicolegal death investigation system for the communities in the jurisdiction in which they operate.

2023 Theatre in the Park begins outdoor season

The 2023 Theatre in the Park season kicked off on June 2 with Freaky Friday, a family-friendly production that runs through June 10. Over one summer season, TIP typically engages about 600 community volunteer performers across all five productions, which include actors, crew members, and musicians. Over the course of 35 performances, Theatre in the Park will typically see over 25,000 in attendance, drawing visitors across the region! The next four outdoor productions include: Meet Me in St. Louis, 13, White Christmas and Footloose. County night for employees will be held on Friday, July 28, featuring Footloose. This is an opportunity to recognize Johnson County employees across all departments and divisions.

De Soto plans hearing on proposed townhouse project

The City of De Soto will be conducting a public hearing at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 15, to consider approving a property tax abatement project. The proposed project is to be financed with $6,600,000 in industrial revenue bonds for acquiring, constructing, equipping and furnishing an approximate 34,487-square-foot townhome complex to be located at Valley Springs Dr. and W. 83rd Circle within De Soto. The applicant has requested a 10-year, 50% property tax abatement.

Consider authorizing an exception to competition and approving a service agreement renewal for respite care services with DCCCA, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $100,000, for one (1) additional twelve (12) month contract period ending June 30, 2024 per Administrative Policy and Procedure #110.180.A.16.

Contract for pond sediment removal

IFB# 2023-024 Consider authorizing a contract with Phillips Site Work, Inc for the NCADC Pond Sediment Removal and Disposal Project located at 27745 W. 159th Street, New Century in the amount of $329,175.78.

Contract for School Food Service Management Program

Request for Proposal (RFP) No. 2023-010, Consider authorizing a contract with Trinity Services Group, Inc., for a School Food Service Management Program, at a cost not to exceed $316,000 for a period of one year with the option to renew for an additional four one-year renewal periods.

Consolidation of two zoning boards

Resolution No. 046-23. Hold a public hearing and consider adopting Resolution No. 046- 23 to consolidate the Northwest and Southwest Consolidated Zoning Boards into the West Consolidated Zoning Board and establish the qualifications and appointment process of members to the West Consolidated Zoning Board.

Renaming of zoning board

Resolution No. 047-23. Consider adopting Resolution No. 047-23 to rename the Southeast Consolidated Zoning Board to the East Consolidated Zoning Board and establish the qualifications and an appointment process of members to the East Consolidated Zoning Board.

Establishing appointment process to planning commission

Resolution No. 045-23. Consider adopting Resolution No. 045-23 to establish the qualifications and appointment process of members to the Johnson County Planning Commission.
