Feb. 2022 BOCC recap

Here are highlights of the Board of County Commissioners’ actions and activities in Feb. 2022. More information, including official minutes, votes and videos on all items is available at boccmeetings.jocogov.org. The board took the following actions:

  • (Sitting as the Board of Public Health) Rescinded Public Health Order No. 001-21 – requiring students sixth grade and younger, in Johnson County schools to wear masks, effective Feb. 17, 2022.
  • Voted to support the creation of the city of De Soto’s TIF redevelopment district for Sunflower Development.
  • Dissolved the Sunflower Community Redevelopment Authority and approved an amendment to the Predevelopment Agreement between Johnson County and Sunflower Redevelopment LLC for the Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant property.
  • Authorized additional funds in the amount of $545,758,840 for Design and Construction of the Nelson Wastewater Treatment Facility Improvements project. 
  • Approved a Final Development Plan for Phase 1 infrastructure improvements for the New Century Commerce Center, East Area Plan, on 242 acres, located at the southwest corner of 159th Street and Clare Road. 
  • Moved the secondary source of its BOCC meeting livestreams and video archives from Facebook to YouTube.
