Funding available for new child care providers in Johnson County

Are you passionate about nurturing young minds and creating a positive impact in your community? The Johnson County Department of Health and Environment and Raising JoCo, a child care coalition, announce funding opportunities for individuals wanting to start a new home child care business or open a new child care center in Johnson County, Kansas.

Thanks to a grant from Child Care Aware of Kansas and funding allocation from the Johnson County Board of County Commissioners to support child care expansion in Johnson County, if individuals have ever dreamt of opening a child care business, now is the perfect time to turn that dream into reality. Grant funding is available for a limited time that covers the following for new Johnson County child care providers:

New Child Care Home Provider Benefits

  • State and local initial licensure fees will be covered by grant funding.
  • Fingerprint fees will be covered by grant funding.
  • For the first 25 Johnson County new home provider applicants, fees for the informational meeting and CPR/First Aid training (up to $80 per provider) will be covered by grant funding.

New Child Care Center Benefits

  • The first 10 Johnson County new child care center applicants are eligible for financial assistance to cover CPR/First Aid costs and one additional class per person, with coverage for up to 15 staff members per center.
  • Classes can be selected from the offerings listed on the Child Care Licensing class website.

Funding is available on a first-come, first-served basis until the allocated amount is spent. Applicants are encouraged to apply promptly to secure their spot and benefit from this limited opportunity.
