January 2022 BOCC recap

Here are highlights of the Board of County Commissioners’ actions and activities in January 2022. More information, including official minutes, votes and videos on all items is available at boccmeetings.jocogov.org. The board took the following actions:

  • Sitting as the Board of Public Health, voted to review Board of Health Order No. 001-21 – Elementary Schools on Feb. 17 unless conditions with COVID-19 improved prior to that.
  • Adopted the use of virtual meetings through February 17, 2022 for Johnson County Government during the rapid rise of COVID-19 cases in Johnson County, Kansas.
  • Authorized agreements for the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office to provide law enforcement to the cities of De Soto and Gardner.
  • Approved a services agreement with EVERFI to sponsor mental health and prevention education in all classrooms across Johnson County.
  • Appointed Harry Heflin to the position of County Auditor effective immediately. 
  • Confirmed the Chairman’s appointment of Commissioner Shirley Allenbrand as 2022 BOCC Vice Chair, effective Feb. 1, 2022.
