Johnson County Airport Commission receives KDOT grant funding

Airport Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

The Johnson County Airport Commission has received three grants in 2022 for over $400,000 from the Kansas Department of Transportation.

The major project is the replacement of the electrical vault which services airfield lighting at Johnson County Executive Airport which is several decades old. The JCAC also received nearly $29K for maintenance materials for both airports.

This is the largest total grant award amount from the Kansas Department of Transportation in the past five years. This funding comes only a year after the JCAC received funding for safety gates at various entrances at both the Johnson County Executive Airport, as well as the New Century AirCenter.

The new grant funding, along with the funding from last year, are an example of the Kansas Department of Transportation and Johnson County working together to promote safe travel in and out of Johnson County.
