Got electronics you want to get rid of? Have documents you need shredded? On Monday, Oct. 17, the Johnson County Department of Health and Environment, Kiewit, ProShred, and Secure e-Cycle are hosting a recycling event specifically for electronics recycling and paper shredding.

The electronics recycling and paper shredding event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Kiewit, 8900 Renner Blvd. in Lenexa, in the north parking lot off 89th Street. County staff and volunteers will help unload recyclables from vehicles.

You can recycle the following items at the event:

  • Electronics: Drop off "anything with a cord" to be recycled. All electronic items are free except TVs ($30 each) and computer monitors ($15 each), cash and check only.
  • Paper: Drop off paper to be securely shredded. There is no charge for paper shredding, but donations are accepted.
