Johnson County Square ribbon cutting and tree grove dedication
Johnson County Government and county partners will formally open the new Johnson County Square with a ribbon-cutting ceremony from 1 to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 9. In addition, the Rotary Tree Grove of the County Square will be dedicated. The open space sits in the heart of Olathe, at the corner of Cherry and Santa Fe streets, across from the new Johnson County Courthouse.
Ed Eilert, chairman of the Johnson County Board of County Commissioners, will emcee the event. Hear from local officials and county partners on the history of the square and how the community helped shape the design. Members of the Rotary will present a plaque to dedicate the tree grove.
The event will be streamed live on jocogov.org/JoCoSquare and on Facebook Live. The public is encouraged to watch online. Limited seating will be available. Physical distancing will be implemented, and masks are strongly encouraged. Public parking is available at the downtown garage, located at Cherry and Loula streets.
