Johnson County Transit suspending three transit routes
Based on a comprehensive review of current usage and service efficiency, Johnson County Transit will suspend three transit routes effective Dec. 31, 2023. The following routes will be affected by this suspension:
- 482 Overland Park Flex
- 519 Olathe Express
- 595 Gardner-OP Express
“Johnson County is committed to providing efficient and reliable transportation services to our community, and we continuously evaluate ridership and efficiency of dollars spent,” said Mike Kelly, chairman of the Johnson County Board of County Commissioners. “The board has given direction to embark on a strategic plan for long-range transit services. Until then, the sustained decline in ridership coupled with financial challenges has necessitated the difficult decision to optimize resources and ensure the sustainability of the remaining transit services.”
Alternative transportation options should be considered during this period.
Alternatives to the 482 Overland Park Flex include:
- 401 Metcalf-Plaza
- 403 Antioch -Olathe
- 404 Metcalf-Downtown
- 487 87th Street
- 499 Micro Transit
- RideKC Freedom for eligible residents of Johnson County.
Alternatives to the 519 Olathe Express include:
- 403 Antioch -Olathe
- 499 Micro Transit
- 520 Strang Line Express
- RideKC Freedom for eligible residents of Johnson County.
Alternatives to the 595 Gardner-OP Express include:
- 403 Antioch-Olathe
- 499 Micro Transit
- 520 Strang Line Express
- RideKC Freedom for eligible residents of Johnson County.
