General Election Day is Nov. 5, 2024, and the Johnson County Election Office wants to provide all the necessary information for Johnson County voters.

What is on the ballot for the November general election?

This is a countywide election with 478,877 registered Johnson County voters. Every four years, U.S. citizens vote for President and Vice President during the general election. Other contests on the ballot in Kansas include the U.S. House of Representatives, State Senate, State House of Representatives, other state and county offices and retention of judges.

Am I eligible to vote?

All registered voters are eligible to participate in the November general election. Eligible voters may check their status and can view their sample ballot at jocoelection.org/VoterView.

Advance Voting by Mail

Advance ballots must be postmarked by Election Day and received by the Johnson County Election Office on Friday, Nov. 8.

There are several ways to return an advance ballot, including ballot drop boxes, advance voting locations, and Election Day polling sites. Ballot drop boxes are open 24/7 until 7 p.m. on Election Day. Advance voting locations and hours can be found at jocoelection.org/advance-voting.

Voters can track their advance voting by mail ballot online at jocoelection.org/VoterView.

In-Person Voting on Election Day

Polling places will open at 6 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5. Anyone in line by 7 p.m. will be allowed to cast their vote. Voters must mark their ballot at their assigned polling place on Election Day, which can be found at jocoelection.org/VoterView.

Provisional ballots will be reviewed and counted at the canvass for the election, which begins on Friday, Nov. 15 at 9 a.m. at the Johnson County Election Office, 2101 E. Kansas City Road in Olathe. The results will be certified when the canvass reconvenes at 4 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 18. The canvass is open to the public. Official final results will be released after the canvass.

Reporting Election Results

The first unofficial election results will be released after 7:30 p.m. on Election Day. These results will include votes cast at advance voting locations and mail ballots returned before Election Day.

As votes cast at Election Day polling places are returned to the Election Office, the unofficial results will be updated periodically on the Election Office’s website and social media until all precincts are reporting.

It is important that all election results be reported as “unofficial” until the vote canvass ends on Nov. 18.
