New Household Hazardous Waste Facility under construction in Overland Park

Rendering of New Household Hazardous Waste Facility

A new Household Hazardous Waste drop-off facility is under construction, to replace the existing facility in Mission off I-35 and Lamar.

The new facility will be located in Overland Park off College Boulevard and Mastin Street, in a building that used to be a car wash. It’s tentatively set to open in early June.

The same items will be accepted at the new facility, including unwanted latex paint, stain, yard chemicals, cleaners, tires and more. You will still be able to purchase re-blended latex paint and shop in the Free Store as well.

There will be a gap in service between the closure of the current facility and opening of the new one. The current facility is expected to remain open until the end of April and will still be accepting materials until that time.

Drop-off is available at the current facility, by appointment only, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. You can schedule a drop-off online or by calling 913-715-6907.

An official opening date for the new facility will be announced once construction is complete.
