A reminder that while JCPRD’s 50 Plus programs are primarily for people who are age 50 or older, interested parties who have not yet reached that magic age may still be able to attend. Persons 18 and older who are interested in a 50 Plus class are invited to call the 50 Plus Department at 913-826-2975 for space availability.

Here's a sampling of programs JCPRD has coming up for the week of Jan. 16-22:
Jan. 16 - Nature & Outdoors: Full Moon Hike (Ernie Miller Nature Center, 909 N. Kansas 7 Highway, Olathe, 6 to 8 p.m., Ages 8 & Older, $8 per person, $9 nonresidents) - By the light of the silvery moon, join us for a quiet hike to connect with nature and the night sounds. Let your eyes adjust to the moonlight and experience the park after dark. Enjoy shadows and listen for owls. The full moon hike will happen even on overcast nights. Jan. 20 - Homeschool Theatre Session 1 (Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center, 8788 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, Ages 8 to 12, Thursdays, 10 a.m. to Noon., 8 sessions, $135 per person, $150 nonresidents) - Join us for our first-ever Homeschool Theatre Program! In this Level 1 Session 1 series, participants will learn the fundamentals of acting, playwriting, and puppetry over the course of eight weeks. Activity number 15962. Session 2 will begin March 24 and will let participants work together to create their own show! You must register for Session 2 separately; activity number 15963.
Jan. 20 - Intro to Acting (Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center, 8788 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, Ages 8 to 12, Thursdays, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., 8 sessions, $120 per person, $135 nonresidents) - Theatre games, monologues, dialogue between characters, and evoking emotion as actors are just a few things you will learn in this introductory class. This course ends with a student showcase for family and friends. Activity number 15113.
Jan. 20 - Games: Bingo - Winter Paradise (Meadowbrook Park Clubhouse, 9101 Nall Ave., Prairie Village, Ages 50 Plus, $5 per person, $6 nonresidents) - BINGO! Delight in food, prizes, fun and 12 games of bingo. A variety of prizes will be awarded including gift certificates. Please pre-register at least one week in advance. Payment is required at time of registration. For the enjoyment of all participants, children are not permitted to attend 50 Plus Bingos. Cost of admission covers snacks and staff time to administer the bingo program. No additional charge for bingo. Activity number 16976. Jan. 20 - Special Interest: PBS Studio Tour (Virtual Program, Ages 50 Plus, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., FREE) - Take a look behind the scenes at the PBS studio and hear an overview of their three brands, The Hale Journalism Center, The Bridge history and acquisition, learn about old equipment as well as new, and much more.
