Theatre in the Park begins 2024 season on May 31 at Shawnee Mission Park

On Friday, May 31, Theatre in the Park will kick off its 55th outdoor season on the stage at Shawnee Mission Park.

Johnson County’s popular outdoor live entertainment program, Theatre in the Park features five productions this summer. Each show runs approximately 2.5 hours with one 15-minute intermission. Productions include:

  • “Bye Bye Birdie,” rated PG: May 31-June 2 and June 5-8
  • “Anastasia: The Musical,” rated PG: June 14-16 and June 20-22
  • “Anything Goes,” rated PG: June 28-July 6
  • “Hello, Dolly,” rated PG: July 12-20
  • “Sister Act,” rated PG-13: July 26-Aug. 3

For outdoor productions, the box office opens at 7 p.m., gates to the theatre bowl open at 7:30 p.m. and shows begin at 8:30 p.m. General admission is $10 for adults, $7 for youth ages 4 to 10, and children ages three and under are free (but require a ticket for entrance).

You can purchase tickets at the box office or online. You can also purchase “anytime tickets,” not specific to a certain night or performance, via either ticket-buying method. A limited number of reserved tickets for outdoor chairs are also available for every performance for $20 each plus tax.

Continuing in 2024 are Thrifty Thursdays. Thursday night performances come with a 20% discount – adult tickets are $8 and children’s tickets are $5.60. You must purchase discounted tickets at the box office on the evening of the show.

The Theatre in the Park’s outdoor location is north of the main entrance to Shawnee Mission Park, 7710 Renner Road in Shawnee.
