Utility assistance available for qualifying Johnson County residents

Electricity bill marked past due

With the rising costs of living, many families find themselves struggling to afford utilities. The Johnson County Utility Assistance Program, managed by Johnson County Aging and Human Services, has been a crucial support for low-income households for over 45 years.

Thanks to the recent allocation of funds from the American Rescue Plan Act, in addition to standard funding, AHS is expanding efforts to assist more households facing financial strain due to past-due utility bills.

Assistance may be provided for electric, water, gas, wastewater or propane utility bills. Financial assistance can be provided for Johnson County residents with past-due utility bills or assistance with payment plans.

There are four locations in Gardner, Lenexa, Mission and Olathe for residents seeking assistance. Appointments are required to receive services.
