Air Compliance Permitting and Inspections

Companies that are subject to air quality regulations under the Clean Air Act have their operations reviewed by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. Johnson County Health and Environment conducts unannounced inspections at these facilities to determine compliance with air regulations and permits. 

Ozone and Smog Monitoring

The established "ozone season" for the Kansas City region is April 1 through October 31. Five counties in two states work together along with the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC), the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources to monitor and evaluate sources of air pollution and work to decrease it.

Air Quality Monitoring

Johnson County is part of a regional air quality monitoring program for Kansas City. There are two current monitoring locations located at Heritage Park. One monitor is for particulate matter and the other is for ozone.

Information and forms for residents and health care providers to report communicable diseases and food-related illness to public health officials.

Safe Kids Johnson County

Register for Safe Kids classes. Safe Kids Johnson County is comprised of agencies, organizations, and businesses within Johnson County who work to prevent unintentional injury in children.

Outreach Nurse Services for Older Adults

Skilled Registered Nurses are available to visit with senior adults one on one in their home and provide physical and social assessments as well as education and counseling on senior needs.

Prenatal Care

Prenatal services are available through the Department of Health and Environment for Johnson County residents only. Appointments are required.
