Lanesfield plans Christmas event

The Lanesfield Historic Site, 18745 S. Dillie Road, Edgerton, will deck its halls during the holiday season so Johnson County residents of all ages may experience a traditional 1904, old-fashioned Christmas, and feature a Country Christmas from 1-5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9.

Emerging artists offer art for sale

Emerging artists at Johnson County Developmental Supports will showcase their talents at a Holiday Art Sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at the Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center.

Vets invited to enjoy free breakfast

Johnson County Park and Recreation District’s 50 Plus Department has scheduled a free Veterans Celebration Breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, at the Matt Ross Community Center, 8101 Marty St., Overland Park.

Veterans Day event set Nov. 10

Johnson County’s 2023 Veterans Day Observance is scheduled at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 10, at the Kansas Army National Guard Armory, 18200 West 87th Street Parkway, Lenexa, located just west of Renner Road.

County approves road, stormwater projects

Residents from every corner of Johnson County will benefit from the allocation of more than $40 million by the Johnson County Board of County Commissioners in approval of the 2024 plans and its funding for two long-standing programs to improve roadways and stormwater systems.

Tips to prevent being scammed

In the past year, more than 13,500 adults in Kansas have been victims of fraud, identity theft and other scams. These deceptions are not limited to any specific group, as they target adults of all ages, education levels and income.

Silver Haired members approve issues

The Kansas Silver Haired Legislature held its annual statewide member meeting on Oct. 3-5 in Topeka. During the 2023 meeting, SHL members discussed, debated and voted upon issues that were presented to the entire membership. The SHL encompasses Kansas seniors 60 and above.

Medicare Open Enrollment ends Dec. 7

Medicare Open Enrollment, which began Oct. 15, runs to Dec. 7. During this time, people eligible for Medicare can compare 2024 coverage options on Medicare.gov or meet with a SHICK (Senior Health Insurance Counseling for Kansans) counselor.
