Johnson County needs to partner with landlords or property managers to meet their goal of 30 units (1–3 bedrooms) utilizing Emergency Housing Vouchers by September 30, 2023. Not meeting this goal could mean losing these vouchers.

Johnson County Library started in the early 1950s in the homes of local families, schools and businesses, including a plumber and a barbershop! Our first official branch, Antioch Library, opened in 1956 off Shawnee Mission Parkway.

Working alongside our residents and community partners, Johnson County Government made progress on board priorities, served as good stewards of taxpayer dollars, supported economic development, used innovation and efficiency, collaborated and came together as a community.

We cannot serve our community without you. We heavily rely on community members to volunteer their time and talents for the good of our organization and community.

To be sustainable is to meet the environmental, economic and social needs of today without preventing future generations from meeting their needs. In Johnson County, we all play a vital role in making that possible.

Several of our departments, agencies and offices work together to ensure roads and bridges in the unincorporated parts of the county are well maintained, wastewater and stormwater are handled and treated properly, and more.

In 2022, Johnson County Government leaders and staff continued to strongly and passionately implement the Board of County Commissioners’ priority to meet the needs of the county’s vulnerable populations.

In 2014, Johnson County was named one of eight highly effective justice systems in the United States by the MacArthur Foundation. We remain on the cutting edge as each year we continue our forward-thinking and collaborative approach to criminal justice.

Year after year, Johnson County Government and its contractors, architects, builders and other partners move the community forward with major capital projects.

When it comes to economic development in Johnson County, most of it is accomplished through our cities. An exception is in southwest Johnson County, near the New Century AirCenter, where Johnson County is the home to dozens of companies creating thousands of jobs.
