November recognizes long-term care

November is Long-Term Care Awareness Month, an annual event to raise awareness about long-term care and to encourage people to plan for their future needs

Sponsored by the Johnson County Park and Recreation District’ s 50 Plus Department, a free Veterans Celebration Breakfast will take place at 8:30 a.m. Friday , Nov. 8, at the Matt Ross Community Center , 8101 Marty St., Overland Park.

Johnson County Veterans Day event to honor local vets, celebrate GI Bill

Johnson County’s 2024 Veterans Day Observance is scheduled at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11, at the Kansas Army National Guard Armory, 18200 West 87th Street Parkway, Lenexa, located just west of Renner Road. Celebrating its 38th year, the county’s public event annually honors all veterans from all Armed Forces for their military service.

Food pantries play a vital role in addressing food insecurity. Johnson County Aging and Human Services oversees four Multi-Service Centers in the community, three of these centers house food pantries.
