The times they are a changing
Change is constant in life, the weather and often the ways things are done. The challenge at hand is how to deliver The Best Times to readers by the best means possible in the 21st century while keeping an eye on costs for our bimonthly publication as population of aging adults in Johnson County grows.
Teens connect with aging adults
A community mobilization and story-telling campaign called #ZeroReasonsWhy (#ZRW) was founded in 2018 to prevent teen suicide and to remove the stigma surrounding mental health. The campaign has broadened its outreach to include aging adults and others who are suffering from the impacts of isolation, depression, suicidal thoughts and mental health issues during the coronavirus pandemic.
Tax time in 2021 also means potential tax scams
According to information provided by the Internal Revenue Service, tax scams continue to be on the rise. It is important to use caution when viewing emails and receiving telephone calls supposedly from the IRS. Falling victim to one of these scams can not only be costly, but also aggravating in the time it can take to straighten out the resulting mess.
Services include VITA, radon kits
The Johnson County Extension Office will offer a couple of valuable opportunities next month.
