Billing Process
MED-ACT provides ambulance transportation to area hospitals for emergency situations. We bill for these services. Our billing rates include an all inclusive base rate and a per mile charge from the scene to the hospital. As a convenience to our patients, we collect the patient billing information including Medicare/Medicaid and insurance at the time of the service. We contract for billing services with EMS/MC which files claims directly with the appropriate payers.
Additional information
When we are unable to obtain insurance information at the time of service, EMS/MC will contact the patient to obtain this information. We exhaust all insurance, including appeal processes, before billing the balance due to the responsible party. The balance may include the deductible, co-pay, or other amounts not covered by insurance.
The patient's ability to pay for ambulance transportation should never be a reason to not call 9-1-1. MED-ACT is committed to working with our patients regarding their ability to pay. Please contact EMS/MC toll free at 877-514-2852 (7 a.m. to 7 p.m. CST) if you need to make payment arrangements, have any questions regarding your bill, or to provide insurance information.
