RSV vaccine available in the fall

A new vaccine that protects adults ages 60 and older who are at the highest risk for severe illness from the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) will be available this fall.

Test indicates risk of prediabetes

There are 96 million American adults who have prediabetes – that’s 1 in 3 adults! Of those 96 million, more than 8 in 10 of them don’t even know they have it.

About Health & Environment

The Johnson County Health Department was established in 1943 and began with a Health Officer on loan from the United States Public Health Service and five employees. Johnson County’s population was 33,327 (1940). Today, the Johnson County Department of Health and Environment consists of nine divisions with approximately 170 staff in six locations and serves a population of over 600,000 residents.
