Schedule a Drop-Off

Johnson County residents can safely dispose of household chemicals, paint, and other items at the Household Hazardous Waste facility. This service is by appointment only. Residents can purchase usable latex paint through the Re-blended Paint program and usable household chemicals through the FREE Store.

Re-Blended Paint

High quality latex paint from Johnson County homes and collected at our Household Hazardous Waste facility is re-blended on site and available for purchase in 5 gallon buckets

Free Store

Usable household products that are dropped off at the Johnson County Household Hazardous Waste facility are available through the FREE Store.

Businesses, Churches and Schools

Qualifying businesses and organizations such as churches, schools, government agencies, and non-profit groups, can utilize our Small Quantity Generator disposal program, as a cost effective way to get rid of paint and other hazardous chemicals. This voluntary and fee-based program is available to Johnson County businesses and organizations who meet the qualifications established by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.

Get Certified

The Johnson County Green Business Program (JCGBP) is a voluntary and nonregulatory program that provides free educational outreach and technical assistance on a variety of environmental management practices to businesses throughout Johnson County.

Certified Partners

Johnson County recognizes businesses, schools, and other commercial entities through the Green Business Program. All of these awardees have started or improved programs that increase waste diversion and sustainability. Department of Health and Environment staff can provide free assistance to your business, school, place of worship, etc. through the Waste Diversion Assistance Program.

Air Quality Public Notices

Public notices are required by the Clean Air Act for new Class I and Class II Operating Permits. For facilities in Johnson County, Kansas all air quality permits are written by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment-Bureau of Air (KDHE-BOA).
