Multi-Family/Apartment Recycling

There are many multi-housing complexes, such as apartments, condominiums, and dormitories, that have a recycling program in place. If your complex is not one of those, please consider starting a campaign to bring convenient recycling to you and your neighbors or tenants.

Recycling in the Classroom

Johnson County Environmental Division staff can provide education and outreach to your class or school. This includes presentations on a wide range of environmental topics. Through the Green Business Program we can also help your school start or improve a recycling, waste diversion, or sustainability program. We have also developed Trashology 101, a curriculum that can help your students better understand waste diversion.

Electronics Recycling

There are recycling options for all types of electronics; anything that runs off batteries or a cord. Electronic recycling locations can be found in Johnson County and Kansas City. Charges may apply for certain electronics.

Recycling at Work

Johnson County is committed to supporting and promoting waste diversion programs such as reduction, recycling, composting, etc. Environmental Division staff can help you start a recycling, sustainability, or waste reduction at your business, school, place of worship, etc.

Pool Operator Information

A Licensed Pool Operator is any person who completes an application with the Johnson County Department of Health and Environment, passes an exam, and pays the fee. Licensure is valid for three years.
