Special events with 50 Plus coming in fall
Three upcoming fall social events by the Johnson County Park and Recreation 50 Plus Department provide a good opportunity for participants to mix and mingle.
Fun Fest set Oct 14 at TIP
As a way to say thank you to our community for its amazing support of our programs, the Johnson County Park and Recreation District is hosting an inaugural Fun Fest on Saturday, Oct. 14.
Project begins at Heritage Park Lake
The Johnson County Park and Recreation District began drawing down water levels in Heritage Park Lake in early June in preparation for much-needed water quality and habitat improvements.
County lakes lure anglers
Four overnight fishing opportunities at three Johnson County Park and Recreation District lakes are being planned during this summer.
Lunch, bingo set Aug. 24
A 50 Plus Back to School Lunch & Bingo is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Aug. 24 at the Roeland Park Community Center, 4850 Rosewood Dr..
Movies in the Park at TIP
Cost is $1 per person at the box office, gates & box office open at 8 p.m., movies start at 8:30-8:45 p.m. (dependent on sunset).
TIP’s outdoor season ends Aug. 5
The Theatre in the Park’s season features three mid-summer shows before ending on Aug. 5 on the outdoor stage in Shawnee Mission Park.
Back-to-school fun set Aug. 9 for all ages
Gamin’ with the Grandkids fun is featured from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Aug. 9 at the Tomahawk Ridge Community Center, 11902 Lowell Ave., Overland Park.

The sunshine is out in full force, and so is Johnson County Park and Recreation District’s 50 Plus travel department.
