Special Delivery program needs volunteers
The Johnson County Department of Aging and Human Services has a new volunteer opportunity called Special Delivery
to support both the Area Agency on Aging and food pantries.
Volunteers will deliver supplies to AAA clients for upcoming virtual classes to help combat social isolation.
Similar to Home-Delivered Meals, each volunteer will be assigned a route of approximately 10 homes to deliver supplies. Routes will be designated by cities and the expected time commitment is two hours.
Volunteers will pick up supplies at AAA central office in Olathe. For each virtual class, a designated day/time to pick up supplies will be announced.
Additionally, volunteers are needed to pick up donations from local food drives and transport to one of three food pantries.
All Special Delivery opportunities will occur during business hours Monday through Friday. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age, be able to lift 20 pounds and drive their personal vehicles. Mileage reimbursement is available. Children are welcome to accompany an adult parent/guardian.
