Accessibility Services advocates for full access to all aspects of Johnson County life for homebound individuals with a physical disability, aged 18-59.

Volunteer Opportunities

Join the heart of Aging & Human Services by becoming a volunteer. AHS offers four different programs where volunteers can make a difference in the lives of vulnerable residents.

Commission on Aging

The COA provides information, guidance, advice and support to the Johnson County Area Agency on Aging and serves as a liaison to the BOCC concerning the needs of older county residents and services to meet those needs.

CHAMPSS: Seniors Meal Plan

The Johnson County Area Agency on Aging (AAA) Nutrition Program is pleased to offer a dining opportunity called CHAMPSS, a program for adults 60 years or older and their spouses at certain Hy-Vee grocery stores.

Caregiver Support

The Area Agency on Aging sponsors services to educate, counsel and advise caregivers and help them deal with the physical and emotional stresses of caregiving. Other services provide direct care for the older adults to assist the caregiver or give the caregiver a much needed break.

CARE Nursing Home Pre-Admission Screening

CARE stands for Client Assessment, Referral and Evaluation. Everyone seeking a permanent move to a Kansas Medicaid certified nursing facility must be assessed by the CARE program.

Donations

Individuals wishing to make a donation to Catch-a-Ride, CHAMPSS, Neighborhood Nutrition Centers, or Home Delivered Meals can donate online. Mail-in donations are also an option.
