Assistant County Manager: Aaron Otto
Aaron Otto began serving as assistant county manager on April 3, 2023. Otto has been with the county since 2015, and has more than two decades of government experience at the federal, state, county and city levels, most recently as the executive director for the Johnson County Airport Commission since May 2016.
He has also previously served Johnson County as assistant to the county manager and as acting assistant county manager. He also served as the second city administrator for Roeland Park. His public service includes time with the State of Kansas, where he served as the assistant Kansas state treasurer and deputy assistant treasurer, in addition to serving as chief of staff to two lieutenant governors and on the senior staff for two governors. Aaron started his public service on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations for the United States Navy on both sea and shore assignments. He has served on boards for several nonprofits, including the Kansas State Alumni Association, Leadership Kansas, the Kansas Humanities Council and the Friends of Cedar Crest Foundation.
He has a bachelor’s degree in political science from Kansas State University, and a master’s degree in public administration from George Washington University. He also holds a national security diploma from the Naval War College.
