The 2024 trout season begins Saturday, Feb. 24, after the stocking of 1,600 pounds of trout in Kill Creek Park and 3,800 pounds of trout in Shawnee Mission Park.

The stockings will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 21. Both lakes will then be closed to all fishing until the siren start of the trout season at 8 a.m. Feb. 24.

A Johnson County Park and Recreation District permit and Kansas state fishing license are required at JCPRD lakes. Permits can be purchased online at JCPRD.com/permits.
