Virtual classes are available on many topics
The Johnson County Department of Aging and Human Services is committed to supporting older adults by hosting virtual classes. While some classes are exclusively for Area Agency on Aging clients, others are open to the public.
Many of the virtual classes are hands-on sessions that individuals can do from the comfort of their homes. Sessions provide older adults the ability to interact with others while addressing the rise in social isolation.
The virtual classes cover a variety of interesting topics, including art, cooking and bird-watching.
“The art class has been very special for me. I live alone and have never painted before. My days are long. I paint for hours. This class was harder for me. I needed to watch it twice. Thank you,” a participant noted about the virtual class.
Personal invitations will be sent to eligible clients, while information on public classes will be posted on the department’s Facebook page. If you have any questions about upcoming classes, please call 913-715-8890.
