Fieldhouse expands its offerings

Since its opening in 2011, New Century Fieldhouse in Gardner has become one of Johnson County’s premier indoor multi-use facilities.

A key section of its offerings is the diverse range of programs provided by the Johnson County Park and Recreation District’s 50 Plus Department. These include pickleball, fitness classes, bingo, card and game drop-ins as well as special events. With plans to introduce even more programs, the 50 Plus Department is excited to announce the addition of Dave Driscoll as the new program coordinator at the fieldhouse.

Event features chili bingo on Oct. 17

Chili and bingo are being combined for a 50 Plus fun event from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Roeland Park Community Center, 4850 Rosewood Drive.

Singles invited to fall fling mixer

A 50 Plus Fall Fling Singles Mixer will take place from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Sept. 13 at the Matt Ross Community Center, 8101 Marty St., Overland Park.

Bonus Bingo returns Sept. 26

Back by popular demand, 50 Plus Bonus Bingo will be played from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Sept. 26 at the Meadowbrook Park Clubhouse, 9101 Nall Ave., Prairie Village.

Program encourages planting native trees

Memorial golf tournament benefits parks foundation

The Parks and Recreation Foundation of Johnson County will host the 4th Annual Gary L. Haller Memorial Golf Tournament from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 4 at the Tomahawk Hills Golf Course, 17501 Midland Dr., Shawnee.

Veterans breakfast scheduled Nov. 8 at Matt Ross

Sponsored by the Johnson County Park and Recreation District’s 50 Plus Department, a free Veterans Celebration Breakfast will take place at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 8, at Matt Ross Community Center, 8101 Marty St., Overland Park.
