Overnight fishing set at 3 parks

Summer fun includes an invitation for residents of all ages to grab their fishing poles and lanterns for overnight fishing opportunities at three park lakes in the Johnson County Park and Recreation District.

Activities are scheduled:

  • July 6, Lexington Lake Park, 8850 Sunflower Road, De Soto
  • July 20, Shawnee Mission Park, 7900 Renner Road, Shawnee Mission
  • Aug. 3, Kill Creek Park, 11670 Homestead Lane, Olathe
  • Aug. 10, Shawnee Mission Park

During each overnight fishing opportunity, the parks will be open for fishing only from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Park police officers will be on duty throughout the night.

Before fishing, anglers ages 16-74 will need to have a valid Kansas fishing license, JCPRD fishing permits and all appropriate boat tags, if applicable.
