County to mail property tax statements

Johnson County residents will receive their property tax statements around Nov. 1 after Amy Meeker-Berg, Johnson County Clerk, has certified the total of the 2025 tax roll for the county.

The statements reflect the amount of ad valorem taxes (taxes bas ed on property value) that shall be collected by all taxing authorities (such as cities, school districts, Johnson County Government’s three taxing districts and others) in the county for their 2025 budgets.

On Aug. 25, the Board of County Commissioners adopted a FY 2025 budget, totaling slightly more than $1.81 billion and including an estimated total property tax levy of 24.086 mills. It is a 0.274 mill reduction from the current levy and the seventh mill levy reduction in eight years.

More information about the county budget is available at jocogov.org/budget and 2025 mill levies at Tax Reports | Johnson County Kansas (jocogov.org) after Nov. 1.
